I'm going to give myself til Friday to announce the winners. It's going to be a lot more difficult than I thought to decide between all these jaw dropping entries?? (I also get my paycheck then haHA) I think I'm going to indeed need a second opinion on this one, and I'll have to contact a friend to help me decide. I never expected such an amazing turn out. Thank you again for everyone who entered. I wish I could give everyone a prize.
And to everyone who wanted to enter, but found the contest late, or didn't have enough time, THIS AINT GONNA BE MY LAST CONTEST. I might even host another one much later in the year (maybe in the late fall/early winter? Or maybe early next year? who knows.) Maybe I'll add even more money and art to sweeten the pot? We'll have to see. I have an idea, but that all depends on the plans I have in mind start flourishing this year.
I'm sorry a lot of people relied on me for information I didnt have enough of or simply forgot to reply. I was in the middle of at least 20 different note conversations this past month, and It's hard to keep track of everything I needed to supply.
I'll do better next time (because by then I'll have at least the basic refs and bios in an organized for hopefully everyone now that I have a Toybox and now that I dont need to have everything spread between tumblr, Stash and google docs HHHHHHH
Hello everyone! I’ve finally decided to do my first contest here after breaking 2,000- uh, wow- 2,500+ watchers here! I know it may be an odd number to have a contest for when I'm a little more familiar on the likes of tumblr, but DA has been by first social media art platform (social media in general actually!) and it would give me great delight to host a contest here again.
After much internal debate whether to do something elaborate with the theme or not, I decided to make my first contest a simple one:
Draw one or more of my original characters!
DEADLINE
March 20th! Two months from now and the Spring Equinox!
Rules:
1 - Anyone may enter, you don’t need to ask! (However if you find fun in asking permission to join I ain’t gonna stop ya lol ask away.) If you’d like to donate a prize, you may still also enter!
2 - For your entry to be eligible to win, it must contain: at least one of my original characters. You may add as many or as few as you wish, as long as at least one is there.
3 - Types of entries I will allow: Digital, Traditional, Comics, Literature (I will be the pickiest over this, but I would be intrigued if anyone gave it ago), Music (yeah! If you’re a music maker, a little song inspired by a character is really neat as well!)
4 - Nothing NSFW or anything above a PG or a very soft PG-13. Fetish/kink art will be disqualified automatically.
5 - You may choose to send your entry in a comment or note, either is fine.
6 - Prize Payment is preferred through paypal, but if, for some reason you need another way to receive the money (be it through a digital giftcard or whatever!) We can work something out.
7 - Your art must be your own. No copying, tracing, using bases, ect.

The sketchbook drawings for everyone are 95% outdated, but are still appropriate character wise. It's just that some designs and the art style are old.
THESE WILL BE UPDATED PERIODICALLY WITH MORE INFO. And theres going to be A LOT of stuff I need to add. A lot of these guys dont have proper refs aside from a shoulders-up ref. I'll be doing things like adding more outfits refs, fullbody drawings, sketchbook drawings, bios, relationship charts, THE WORKS. I hope to get almost all of that done within this month. If you already have something in mind and dont need bios or more outfit refs for a character go nuts.
I ALSO suggest to go through my gallery. I leave random little tidbits of information in the descriptions.
All you really need to do is draw any of these little weirdos. I have OCs from different universes, so I suggest not mixing those. Unless you want to do a crossover. No real theme.

Q:May I ask you a specific thing about a character or multiple characters to help my entry?
A: Of course! If you’re interested in doing a specific scenario and you’re wondering how a character might do or how they might deal with a certain thing, I’m always free to chat! Otherwise feel free do what you think is best or what you feel the character is.
Q:May I add my own OC in with your character?
A:Sure! The more the merrier!
Q:How many times may I enter?
A:You may enter two entries. Though, only one of them is eligible to win.
Q:May I change the outfit to an OC?
A:Sure! In fact I welcome it! I’m super interested in outfit design based on a characters aesthetic. It doesn’t need to be set in the fantasy setting either. Modern real-world casual attire is cool too! Wanna draw a character as a freakin mermaid? Go for it! You feel more confident in drawing anthro characters? Give these dorks a fursona. Go nuts. Just keep whatever outfit or AU you set them in tasteful and appropriate.
Know I will be judging a little harder on AUs, but if you can pull it off well you get major kudos.
Q:How many judges?
A:For now, only me. But I think I’ll ask the outside assistance of a friend who doesnt have a DA, as far as I know. And perhaps a few art buddies.
Q:How will you be judging/ How do I make my entry the most appealing to you?
A:I don’t really want you to worry about what will make me happy. I rather want you to do what feels right to you. I want you to craft your entry based on the information I’ve given you and, most importantly, the impression my characters give you and any kind of connection you may or may not share with them.
A few things to consider might be that skill isn’t a key factor into this.I might look for attention to detail and well-put thought. Don’t compare your art skill to other artists when I’m mainly looking for creativity and effort.
Q:May I contribute a prize?
A:Yes! Any prize donations are super welcome. You may also still enter if you donate.
I only ask that you please follow through with them.
Q:Is there any chance you’ll extend the deadline?
A:I’m sorry to say probably not. I understand outside circumstances get in the way but I want to be fair to those got in their entries on time. If you have any concerns on the date, please send me a note ASAP so we can work something out. I might change it if there are concerns right off the bat. Please don’t wait a week before the deadline.
